5월10일 창간한 인터넷 등산신문 마운틴월드입니다

2007년 봄시즌 세계 최고봉 히말라야 에베레스트 (8.848m) 에

한국산악인 15명이 등정에 성공하였습니다.

이로써 한국은 87명의 에베레스트 등정자를 배출하여

산악강국으로써의 위상을 다시 한번 전세계에 각인시켜 주었습니다.

특히 고령자들로 구성된 (사) 한국산악회의 실버원정대 2명이

등정하는 쾌거를 이루었습니다.


그러나 에베레스트 남서벽에 코리안 신루트를 개척하려던

박영석 대장팀의 젊은 산악인 2명이 조난사하는 슬픔도 있었습니다.
